On Saturday 6th of December 2008, around 10pm in Athens the capital of Greece, Alexis Grigoropoulos happened to be at the wrong place and time. According with the until now evidence from the Greek police, the two caps were driving their car after receiving a call from a citizen about an incident of a fight between some teenagers after a polo game. When the two police officers arrived on the crossroad next to hotspot, thirty people started throwing objects against them. The two police officers as they declare on their testimony drove the car another hundred meters, parked, and got-off running towards to the furious crowd. When the crowd saw the two and only police officers coming to them, instead of running away and avoid to get arrested, they run to them towards. They had a verbal argument and the driver of the police car got scared and used a clatter-blaze grenade (Sound and light). The other police officer took his gun and started fire two times in the air and one on the ground as he claims. According to independent media an eye-witness saw the cop swearing against the young man, showing his genitals just before shooting him.
A massive confusion followed with everybody running away from the scene except the fifteen years old boy Alexis, who was lying gory on the sidewalk with a bullet through his chess. After the ambulance transferred the beardless child to the hospital his death was ascertain. The day after, when media started “informing” the nation about this lugubrious incident, the crowd got emotionally disturbed. Students, parents, friends, women, children, everybody in every corner of Greece was in the streets protesting against the government and the police-killers. The question here is: Do the Media really care about this death or it is a perfect marketing material for the representation of the facts? Of course the death has to be alerting not only in Greece but in the hall world but not with this continuously provoking broadcasting. The nation is in danger. Why? Because of the Greek anarchists who are always looking for a chance to get on the streets and make noise, and because of the homeless who became vandals and are destroying every single shop not to protest but to take everything that is inside the glass since none can control them.
There is not a single video to show clearly what really happened. There are some videos with screaming and gunshots, articles everywhere describing the incident in the sixtieth seventh different version, radio in the streets broadcasting the national anthem, pictures with destroyed materials or landscapes and demonstrations, television with headlines that the current government is unable to handle, and the opposition ready to manage. . Now is this the first time that the politicians are using the Media as a weapon? What is it really hidden behind this story? Is mass Media going to create mass destruction to the hall nation? That is the future and we don’t know. What we really know is history and that a similar event happened in Greece on the November 23, 1963 when the coup d’ιtat by the Greek Junta came to control the people and until now is known as an unacceptable action written in history and the politicians have two feet in one shoe. If the police cannot handle then who is going to handle who?
Nowadays with all these technological innovations and the unlimited quality effects, it is the answer that Media in order to be financially satisfied, are able to stage everything in order to manipulate not only Alexis family, not only the Greek nation, but all the world, or with the help of media and only the situation is going to get better. Step one reduce violence…
